Seborrheic Dermatitis is a chronic and inflammatory skin condition that is similar to and usually confused with dandruff. It most often affects the scalp, face and torso but other areas may be affected as well. Symptoms may appear gradually and may include a red, scaly and flaky scalp with itching.
Seborrheic Dermatitis usually can be controlled with over the counter shampoos or topical anti-fungal medications but stronger medicated shampoos or corticosteroids may be prescribed by your Dermatologist.
If the condition fails to respond to over the counter treatment, please schedule and appointment at Dermatology and Mohs Surgery Center to learn more and discuss possible treatment options.
